new year..new beginning..

As the year comes to the end, it marks a new beginning-year 2005. Many things have happened in dis year- going to new schs, making new friends, adapting to new life, involvement in Heartzlink... If I were to pose a qns and asked which event had been da most memorable in 2004, I would say is YV'04. 3 years of YV, each with a different kind of experience. As a participant, I was inspired. As a TF, I tried to inspire. As a comm, I tried to bring inspirations. I danoe how well I did but think more importantly, we grew together, learn together and kept da flame of volunteering burning. " It only take a spark to get a fire burning." I hoped dat we can all be dat small little spark, to light up da lives of others and keep da flame glowing. Even if da wax get too hot to handle, even if the wind is too strong, we can always light up again, if we had da passion and heart to continue burning.

If ya feel tired, exhausted and ya flame is going out, try coming back to dis blog and hear "Our Song" again. Sing it and review da lyrics. I'm sure it can keep ya flame burning again! "Our Song" is an inspiration for me hope it is aso for ya.

Few hours to go to 2005. Reflect on 2004. What is volunteerism to u actually? What has YV done to ya life? Will u continue volunteering in 2005, 2006, 2007...? All ans lies in your heart..

its impt that you all do this final task for your afterglow ceremony on the 15th of Jan. Your task is that you are to prepare somethin to showcase what you hv done durin your attachment period at your vwo's. ya you all could either:

ask your beneficiaries to come and showcase what you have taught them
showcase what you have done with them

Al we want you to do is this to just show. it can be through various mediums. A skit a song, a dance etc.it would be best if you could show wat u did with ya beneficiaries.

YV have a great impact in my life ....it has presented to me the other side of Singapore..the unfortunate side of life ...but in this society..in this world..it is a world where everyone is here to make an impact in the life of others ...everyone has the ability to do so.. where qualifications does not matter..backgrd doesnt matter...e only thing tt matters is e heart to give n to care.. where wad we want to do is to help and hope to make another person's life a little more comfortable... or merely to bring a smile to someone's face.."i need not be a Mother Thersa to do all these..to create an impact..to make a difference..even though i might not be able to help everyone, but that is not going to stop me from helping anyone.. "

its not an easy journey here..sometimes, u may feel that u r like wastin ur time..wastin ur life..sometimes u question whether ur presence at e home is necessary..jus like in life..there is always ups and downs..neva doubt ur ability to make that difference..just like what justin said..there is a flame in everyone..when ur flame is swaying or going off..sometimes.. seeing or being with a group of passionate volunteers is like adding fuel to ur flame..that is the case for me..it is great to see that there are increasingly ple joining me in this journey..every yr YV to me is a time to add fuel to my flame..to strengthen my belief..this yr..really glad to have such a great team of passionate volunteers to come together to make YVIP'04 take place..guess that is the best motivating tool..

like the song goes, "it only takes a spark to get a fire going..." is exactly what we have done together in yv, we hv started something and as the fire goes we all must be mindful that like a fire, our passions can die out too...for reasons like the lose of fuel, external factors eg. the wind blew it out...our life is like dat...in all that we do, it takes a spark, a certain catalyst to get us going...but that is just the start of the struggle...for a fire to be burning throughout a night it must be watched and taken cared of and fuel must be added constantly so that it wont die out...in parallel to that, we are all part of this big flame and many a time we forget to watch each others fires and forget to give a little fuel to their fire so they can keep on burning...fuel in what sense? those little encouragements, appreciations, understanding...all this contributes to one's fire...besides looking out for each others flame...we should look at our own as we shoudlnt mismanage it to the pt we cant handle it...life is like a little fire for us to watch...burning uniquely in its own way...so no matter where your passions take you in life...wherever it burns...hopefully part of it came frm yv...for i noe deep inside me that there is always a special flame everytime i do yv...i don't noe abt you...but i m watching my flame for the yr to come...becoz many a times this yr...my flame died down for reasons i wouldnt say at this moment...but honestly what really kept me going was not personal glory...it wasnt pts, friends or what...it was my belief that there was still something in yv for me...a piece of something that words can't explain...( i noe dats cliche') but honestly i myself couldnt believe at the fire we built this yr...the participants who came and showed quality enthusiasm...though it was a rush job...it was a job well done...and up to now i m still nostalgic...forget all the bad pts...but not totally for bad pts are there for improvement....but still the feeling when the camp was over was like how a fire starts...my hope is that we watch the fire we built...and that it will keep us all warm...i noe i cannot gurantee 100% that all will continue in volunteering...but in whatever they do...hopefully they have taken abit of this flame with them in their lives...well i gotta sign off...dunnoe if i was makin sense :P
i love ya guys frm my heart...all of ya made yv this yr...and i thank ya all for watching my flame...

Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.. sometimes, its oni when u start givin then u realise how much u can actually give.. sometimes u may not see the importance in simple gestures like lending a helping hand, a listening ear, which may not take up much of ur time.. which may not mean much u.. but u neva noe how much it actually meant to the one beside u.. ignite the passion in u..!!! may the YV spirit lives on .. forever and eva ... ...

5 days 4 nights with a group of ppl who tirelessly worked so hard to start a fire and show it to everyone who came...though it was a rush...but it was not a mess...it was a test of spirit, test of character, a person cultivator...it was alot for us...whether you get what i mean or not...but honestly it was one of those times whereby if i were to look back, sit and think...i wouldnt be surprised at the tears that would roll down...for at least i noe i have done it...made it...not alone but together with this same bunch of ppl who through thick and thin...we didnt fall...we did it! a relief? or more like a rejoicing? hehe...but honestly this yr was something...reli something...well i guess the new layout that is done looks nice to ya all...do make comments if its not ok...well...welcome to the EVolution V blog!...haha...well gotta go now...will share more stuff ya..

hmmm...just got inspired to start a YV blog, dunno if it'll work, cos from past experiences, these high tech stuff like web groups always fail..but well, i'm hoping that by starting this early enough, perhaps everyone will be able to share their experiences and reflections as they go thru yv :) mayb each grp can have their own blog! then post their photos and what not..then i can link everyone! yeah...ambitious plans, huh? :) alright shall ask the com tmw if they wanna do this..
